Before and After Again: The Dining Room

It’s that time again: some before and after shots of my baby (by which I mean my house of course… pshhttt. Babies.)

The open floor plan was one of the main things that sold me on my house, but here are a few shots devoted specifically to the dining room.

Here is the dining room on the day I moved in, in all of its carpeted glory.

Parents renovating

My parents helped me get rid of the dropped ceiling, the carpet and the cute-but-fake Styrofoam “chimney”

Staring into the abyss...

Staring into the abyss…

The wood floor beneath the carpet was painted two different colors.

I painted the walls light great and added lighting fixtures.

Against everyone’s better judgement, I painted the floors because I didn’t have the time or funds to refinish them properly

Against everyone's better judgement, I painted the floor a light sandy color because I couldn't afford to refinish it.

And, to further compound things, I decided on a light, sandy color

Our new dining room :)

It was worth it in the end

Complete with my not-quite-French door(s) to the patio, installed just days before my housewarming

Wow, you are doing such an awesome job with your home! And I’m still so excited for you getting your own home, even though you’ve had it for probably a year by now. That is such a huge thing and accomplishment and it’s looking amazing. 🙂
