Wanted: Boyfriend with HBO

Unlike the rest of the free world, I did not watch Game of Thrones last night. This is partially because I no longer have a boyfriend with access to HBO and partially because I was busy replying to student emails with my standard, “The answer IS IN YOUR SYLLABUS!!!”

But I digress.

Game of Thrones was one of the few shows TWD and I both genuinely liked. (Unlike Firefly which I watched only because I was trying to be a girlfriend and figured it would someday lead to us watching Downton Abbey together…)

But I digress again.

As much as I will miss watching Game of Thrones with TWD, I won’t miss how he always over explained everything.

I’d ask just the tiniest question, like, “Wait a sec, is so-and-so sleeping with so-and-so?” and rather than just nodding his head like a normal person (because let’s face it, everyone is always sleeping together on Game of Thrones), he’d pause his TIVO and give me a ten minute history of the House of Lannister.

It drove me crazy. Especially because I was right 9 times out of 10 and just wanted simple “yes” or “no.”

Also, he didn’t like snacking during Game of Thrones. Or ever, really. And that was a problem.

Last but not least, I always had to censor my appreciation of Kahl Drogo when we watched Games of Thrones together. And of Jon Snow. And of that new guy that appeared towards the end of the last season (you know the one, the pretty boy? The one who is or will soon be sleeping with Daenerys?) I don’t know his name but TWD was rather perturbed by my appreciation of him as well.

Now I can appreciate them all I want.

At least in theory… seeing as I’m still stuck without HBO for the time being.

LOL You do mean, “You feel confused about the answer to that question…others have felt that way too…others have found that the answers to such questions are often in the syllabus,” don’t you?

See I read the books before I ever knew there was a tv show being made at the time. I don’t have HBO, so I have to buy the dvds when they come out. I actually don’t mind the wait because I , as I said before, read the books already. I’m a Walking Dead fan ,so of course I would watch that every Sunday. I’m considering buying the comic books . Now everyone is going to be saying Game of Thrones Sunday’s.

Yeah, I tried the books (well a whole 6 or 7 pages) and just couldn’t get into them. Sounds like you’ve got your Sundays pretty well sorted though! 🙂

I love your blog! I had to show this post to my friend. The main reason my friend was upset when she broke up with her last boyfriend was because it meant she wouldn’t be able to watch the latest season of Girls right away using his HBO Go account.

Haha! It’s the little things that never quite factor into the decision to break up… (I once had some terrible roommates who told me I had to stay with my boyfriend at the time because he worked at a game store and they wanted a discount on a Wii). Hope your friend is feeling better, and somehow getting to watch her show 🙂

Keep checking with comcast. sometimes they have HBO for free for a 6 month period. I got Showtime that way for six months so I could watch Homeland in on demand. Good luck with HBO and new bf search!
